Restaurant Review: Vine Sushi & Thai

Last Saturday I was planning on having a leisurely day in bed when my phone rang. To my delight it was my friend, Monique saying she was 30 minutes away and wanting to do lunch. Well I am never one to turn down a meal or good company so I readily agreed. Give or take 40 minutes and we were driving around downtown Durham looking for a spot to “grab a mouthful” as my grandmother used to say. Needless to say we ended up at Vine: Sushi & Thai.

It is a quaint little spot with simple earth tone decor and tasty sweet tea. I must say the lunch menu is awesome and has a nice amount of choices. You can either chose a “lunch” box which is your choice of an entree, salad or soup and your choice of rice. The other option is to pick two sushi rolls with your choice of either a salad or soup.

I had miso soup with my sushi rolls which consisted of a shrimp tempura roll and a sweet potato roll. Monique’s spider roll is pictured above with lettuce. The sweet potato roll was alright, it was a literally just a potato wrapped up in seaweed and rice.  The shrimp tempura roll was delicious and packed with cucumber. Ordinarily I don’t believe cucumber is included but I enjoy different twists on sushi rolls.

I will be returning to Vine and next time I think I might try the curry. If you stop by please let me know what you thought and Happy Eats!
