A couple of weeks ago my mother and I went to visit my little sister at college. This meant inevitably we were going to chow down somewhere. I remember those wonderful days at college when the parents came to visit and it meant free food. *Sigh* Anyways my sister was in the mood for Thai and we ended up at . . . yep you guessed it, Simply Thai.
I loved the simple decor. In my opinion you just can’t go wrong with simple and chic. This beautiful tapestry was hanging behind us and allowed you to see into the other part of the restaurant. Aside from the decor the food was DELICIOUS!
My mother, sister and I started with steaming bowls of wonton soup. The soup had a light succulent broth filled with green onion and bean sprouts, and a big fat wonton (dumpling) waiting to be devoured. Our lunches came with the choice of either a salad or spring roll. I’ve been working on limiting my fried food intake so I opted for the salad of mixed greens topped with a zingy ginger dressing. Although I did look longingly at my mother and sister’s spring rolls.
After a short wait our entrees arrived! Is that not the best moment of going out to eat or what. On the left is pad Thai with chicken (sister) , the middle plate was the Simply Thai fried rice with chicken (mom) and the last is my drunken noodles with chicken. I absolutely love spicy! My drunken noodles were in a delicious spicy pepper seasoning topped with chicken, carrots, bean sprouts, onions, green onions and egg. The flavor combination of all the ingredients made it hard to put down my fork. Flavorful meat and crisp veggies, I mean you can’t go wrong.
I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who will be in the Elon, NC area or lives around there. I don’t think you can go wrong with any entree you choose.
